UD Lifelong Learning Institute Thursday Seminar
The Dayton Literary Peace Prize 2011 Finalists
The Dayton Literary Peace Prize is the only international award for writing that advances the human
understanding and experience of peace. The prize is given annually to the best books of fiction and
nonfiction on the subject of peace — broadly construed. Past winners of the prize in literature include
Richard Bausch for his novel, “Peace,” and Junot Diaz for his novel, “The Brief Wondrous Life of
Oscar Wao,” among others. The University of Dayton has been involved with the DLPP since it was first given in 2006.
In this seminar, participants will review and discuss some of the works of contemporary fiction by
international authors, learning how they portray peace and justice in imaginative works. Through
discussion, we will strive to deepen our understanding of peace.
6 Thursdays, October 6 – November 10 | 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
For more information and to contact someone to register for the class, see the Lifelong Learning
